Beginning March 1, 2009, in the state of Utah, customers will be required to use a 10-digit dialing procedure whenever a call from the 801 area code is placed.

On this date, if a customer does not use the mandatory 10–digit dialing procedure, the call will not be completed and a recording will instruct the caller to hang up and dial again.
